The complete freedom of expression that fashion allows is utterly alluring. Fashion presents endless possibilities, and what we choose to do with it creates our personal style. Fashion possesses an uncanny ability to influence how we feel, although ultimately it does not define us, change our values, or even alter our personalities. Like a mirror to our heart, it reflects our inner selves and projects the message we want to send to the world. “This is me.” I don’t believe putting together a look is the most important part of my day, however as we dress, we all share that thoughtful moment about how we would like to present ourselves to the world.
This moment of introspection ignites a spark of creativity, and inspires us to dress for our definition of success. This is style. Our own interpretation of our identity. Who we are and who we want to be. Using fashion to represent the fine balance of how we feel today while still reflecting who we truly are inside.
Ever changing, and if ever definable, only briefly.
Reflecting over my lifetime, and how fashion has played a role in expressing my personality, I would say the words: understated, simple, and classic come to mind. A quarter century of travels has taught me about myself, and I’ve learned to take risks, go-with-the-flow, fill my days with laughter, and never ever ever take myself too seriously. My life experiences are constantly changing how I view the world and define myself. It’s a wonderful process and I feel my style reflects these inner changes.
We all define beauty, success, and happiness in our own ways, just as we should also define style in our way, the way that truly reflects who we are and resonates in our heart.
