I love the holidays, especially this year as we’ve decided to forgo the gift-giving frenzy and focus on quality family time. It turns out our idea of a perfect Christmas is chartering a boat and lounging on the beach at Buck Island in the US Virgin Islands all day. *Heaven!* (don’t worry, island holiday posts will come soon!)

Some of the moments I look forward to the most during this season are all of the holiday parties! *Ahem, food* But also for dressing up! Red is a fantastic color for the season, and quite appropriately, but if you find yourself in need of a refresh, or maybe a sophisticated alternative, let’s talk navy.

Navy is regal and elegant. It oozes sophistication, and officially, navy has become my new black. It plays well with other neutrals, but also can sustain pops of color from killer shoes and embellished bags. I like to pair my fave navy dress with these Louis Vuitton Night Bloom blush pumps with a metallic heel. Delicate, flowy dress meets structured, architectural heel.

Lately I’ve been drawn to combining navy with the oh-so-feminine lace. Typically we’re used to seeing the softer, romantic side of lace during the warmer months, but I love lace’s new feel in this sapphire jewel tone. Dark and romantic, yet still retaining it’s elegance, navy + lace transitions so smoothly into fall/winter. I also adore those subtle, sensual hints of bare skin, especially in the colder months when we’re used to being all bundled up.

I’ve found I quite like the navy + lace combo when its paired with a plunging neckline, a flirty midi or long hem, or cap sleeves. I’ve linked some of my favorite navy + lace dresses for your upcoming holiday parties, for more holiday inspired looks, check back later this week!

Stay warm,
