Feeling the fast pace of New York City is one of the experiences I look forward to the most, and I love transitioning from island time to a New York minute. The US Virgin Islands and NYC almost feel worlds apart, but I believe a change of pace is always a good idea – and keeps me on my toes!
I had a full itinerary on this trip meeting with the Miss Universe Organization (DREAM come true!!), visiting the Smile Train offices (an AMAZING organization!), and working with stylists to develop my wardrobe strategy for the Miss Universe competition (sorry girlies, 😉 no competition secrets revealed here!!). The energy and flow of the city makes me feel as if opportunities are endless, which feels GREAT as I am training and preparing for Miss Universe 2016.
As I run around the city, comfort is priority numero uno. I always try to book a hotel in the area I have the most appointments in and walk (with heels in tote, of course). Comfy shoes are essential, and in my travels, no new shoes are allowed! My fave shoes right now are my Stan Smith Adidas. I think they go perfectly with EVERYTHING from jeans, to skirts, to dresses. (They’re definitely my go-to airplane shoe too) I decided to pair them with an off-the-shoulder top from a designer I’m obsessed with *Caroline Constas*, my fave pair of skinny jeans, a Chanel bag (because you can never go wrong with the classics), and metallic Dior sunglasses in a color I like to call ‘Sunset’. I love mixing timeless fashion with an of-the-moment piece. Off-the-shoulder has been my favorite trend all summer long and especially going into fall. It transitions perfectly from island life to the streets of New York City, so I can even wear it all ‘island winter’ long!
I’m so excited to be sharing my #RoadToMissUniverse2016 with you! Follow my instagram: @CarolynCarter or check out my other blog posts right here for more images from my visits with Smile Train and the Miss Universe Organization Offices!
Big hugs from the Big Apple,
I love mixing timeless pieces with an of-the-moment piece.
